In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale. Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale is an Irish Whiskey Barrel Aged red ale that clocks in at, 6.5% ABV and is a limited serving. Carrig Brewing describes Carrig Cael & Crede Ale as follows:
“An amber ale that is distinctly Irish, the unforgettable flavour of Cael and Crede comes from its aging in genuine Irish Whiskey oak barrels. Using locally sourced Irish malts and the purest water from the river Shannon, Cael and Crede’s remarkable taste boasts rich toffee with a creamy oak and dry whiskey finish.”
This rather concise description all sounds great. Lets see if Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale lives up to this grand description and the hype that surrounds it. Enjoy the review….. Written review follows:
Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale WRITTEN REVIEW:
A: Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale pours garnet color, with a 1/2 finger head of tight off-white colored bubbles. Plenty of glass lacing was left behind as the head receded and alcohol legs were observed.
S: Whiskey, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, oak, mild sweetness, dark fruits and a bit of earthy hops round out the nose. The aroma is very reminiscent of many bourbon barrel aged strong ales I have had just with a unique Irish whisky scent. No alcohol is detected in the aroma.
T: Follows the nose to a ( T ). Whiskey, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, oak, mild sweetness, dark fruits and a bit of earthy hops round out the nose. The aroma is very reminiscent of many bourbon barrel aged strong ales I have had just with a unique Irish whisky scent. No alcohol is detected in the taste.
M: Medium bodied and smooth with spot on carbonation. Very easy to drink. No alcohol heat was detected even as the beer warmed.
O: Carrig Brewing Cael & Crede Ale is one of the more unique tasting barrel aged beers I have had recently. The Irish whisky barrels give it a tasty flavor that is distinctive and quite nice. It has well defined, as advertised flavors the are strong from front to back.
Serving Type: Bottle (22 oz)
